Default 2006 FX4 transmission shudder

Hey guys. I noticed a couple of months ago that my truck shudders into 2nd gear from either a dead stop or from a low speed with light acceleration. Checked the transmission fluid when I first noticed it and it was almost empty, so I added some and now it's good. But the shuddering still occurs. Fluid doesn't smell burnt.
Did I damage something by running--for who knows how long--on low fluid?
I have 87,000 miles with a 6" lift kit and 35" tires.

Sorry if somebody has posted something about this before, I couldn't find anything like the issue I'm having.
Any insight on what the issue may be? Hopefully some good news???

Its very possible that you did damage the transmission by a combination of running it on low or empty fluid and having the 35" tires on there. I've heard of people having some transmission problems down the road by installing wider diameter tires because your essentially changing the entire gear ratio and the transmission, which is built to run stock 31" (or similar tires), has a harder time getting those bigger tires rolling from a dead stop. Couldn't tell you for sure though. Seems like a pretty low mileage for transmission issues. Get a diagnosis from a ford tech, they do an awesome job of diagnosing ford problems for obvious reasons... they also do a number on the wallet though so if it is a transmission, I'd have it done somewhere else. However, if its something simple such as a bad spark plug, it could be just a DIY project.

was there oil on the dipstick at all... it's only like 1/4-1/2 of quart from the bottom of the low end to full. it's possible you may have actually damaged the trans mission but I would still try a few trans pans dumps (and put some miles on the oil you swap in before doing it again to actually get some cleaning action from it) some people are convinced to avoid doing it because it may make issues worse. It's true you could dislodge some gunk or move a broken part to where it's more of an issue, but at worst, you'll only be bringing problems to light, not creating them
