looking at used F150... need advice please..
I am looking (still) at an 08 with 20,000 miles. Truck is clean as a whistle however three of the Scorpion tires look new and the right rear shows significant wear. Is this from spinning? Maybe they were all bad and only replaced three? I know the Scorpion tires are less than stellar...Any thoughts? Should I run far far away? Thanks for the input.

It could be either or... depending on the previous owner's driving habits, they could have worn the rear tires down by goofing off... (burnouts anyone?) Or -more likely so- the dealership or the previous owner only replaced the tires that showed the worst ware and tare. Depending on how badly the dealership wants to get rid of the truck, they likely wont argue with you if you make them an offer on the condition they put a new tire on the back. You mention "spinning"... the only way that tire is going to get worn so much more than the others is if someone did a few too many peel/burn outs.

i would say the trucks alignment was off and the owner neglected to fix the problem. once he noticed, he decieded to rotate the tires and now thats why the back one is worn down. i would throw spinning out of the question cause its just one tire, not both.

Check the spare; if it's good, have the dealership mount it to the nice rim.
Better yet, have the dealer replace the worn tire at their cost. Sounds to me like you can use this as a deal breaker; If they refuse to do it at their cost, walk away. There are other deals to be had. I doubt the dealer would refuse to provide you with a new tire; if they do, their pretty darn persnikity. It's a tough used car market right now, sales are low. You're prepared to buy. I bet they give you a nice new shiny black tire.
