Default Looking to purchase a F150

Hello everyone.

This is my first post in this forum (current r1-forum member) and I was hoping to get some feedback on a truck I have been looking at.

I have owned 2 grand prix coupes and a 3000gt so my experience with trucks is very limited. I am a mechanical engineer and I have no problem working on my bike or car for jobs in which I have the necessary tools and time.

I am looking at an 06 F150 4x4 Lariat for 16500obo. It has 71000 mi and looks to be in fantastic shape. It has exhaust and air intake already done so this kind of saves me $1k due to my desire to do these mods anyways. Options are tow package, center console shifter, heated seats and toolbox(diamond plate one that goes in bed along rear window). I was curious as to how good of a price this is assuming the truck is fine after a dealership check up of course.

Dealerships were asking 27-29k for 07 fx4 and lariats with comparable miles where I live, and I thought that was a bit high for me.

Any feedback would be great about things to check for (i know of the 2 part plugs) that typically need replacing as I would really not like making repairs in the near future.

Thats actually a fair price for year and mileage. You would see a higher jump in price for 07 over 06's, but I don't know about 10k more. If he said 165obo, I would do it for 16 flat after you get it dealer checked over. Make sure the cam phaser issue has been addressed, and see about getting the 2-piece spark plugs (they break and are a pain) replaced w/ 1 piece.

I got my 2007 4x4 xlt for 17,500 last year. It only had 28,000miles on it. I think for the mileage it seems a little high, I would see if I could shave off a few dollars. But the price is fairly reasonable at the same time due to the modifications and the lariat package. With the upgrades I'd say you should feel its fair. I am the bargaining type so I love to see how low I can get the price. I made a dealer yell and scream at me. he actually kicked me out of the dealership because I kept haggling with him. The owner came out and gave me the brand new truck for the price of the used truck I wanted. WHAT A DAY THAT WAS!

sounds like a fair deal to me too. last time i booked my 05 lariat it was valued at nearly $20,000 which would equate to 17-18 K real world price depending where you live. 4x4's hold more of there value around here. as stated earlier, i would have lit looked over good and offer 16 K flat for it. you wont be disappointed with that truck, especially being a lariat.
