I am ready to replace the oem tires on my '05 FX4. I am planning on going with Nitto Terra Grapplers, in 275/70/R18 size. I want to put a 2 inch leveling kit under the truck at the same time, so I can get the kit, tires, and alignment done all at the same time. My problem is, that I can't find a 2 inch kit that ships in less than 3 - 10 days. I was planning on getting all this done over the holiday weekend, and the tires are already at the tire shop. I didn't think it would be this much trouble to get a kit sent in this week, but I am having no luck. If anyone knows of a good quality kit, at reasonable prices that will ship next day, I would appreciate the info. Looking like I might have to put everything off for a week and take a day off from work to get everything done.

Second question. If I have to put the kit off for a week, can I have the tires installed, and do the kit and alignment a few days later? Or will the above mentioned tire size rub enough to make it a problem? How much will a few days driving without an alignment hurt my tires?

And I guess while I am here, I might as well ask. Will this tire and tire size give me a decent look on my truck? Or is there another brand/size that I should consider?

My apologies if I am posting a question that has already been answered. I did a few searches and couldn't find exactly what I was looking for.

i may be bias on this one, but summit racing has them in stock, and if u order before 6pm it ships that day.

I my myself would go with a bigger tire since you are already planing on adding the spacer.

Have you checked Autospring, they sell mainly on ebay but they also have a site you can check out HERE They are very good kits and MANY people are running them so you dont need to worry about them being a "small" time buis.

You can run the tire size w/o the spacer w/o any rubbing at all

they have skyjacker and pro comp in stock right now. plus they sell daystar and summit brand. not sure if they carry autospring or not.

Thanks for all the quick responses. I like the looks of the auto spring, and the price is about half what the local people are wanting to charge for similar parts. I am going to do a little more checking on the summit site, but will probably go with the auto spring.

On the tire size, what could you recommend? I found the BF 305/65R 18, that gets me up to about 34 inches dia, but they are around $297 mounted and balanced, best price I have found. Where, the the Nitto I mentioned is $216. I can get some Toyo that are around $224, same size as the Nitto. I am uneasy about going beyond a 33" tire, because of shift points etc etc etc. And, this is my primary vehicle, and I drive around 80 miles round trip to work, so a bigger tire has some drawbacks for me. I just really don't want the truck to look all gimped up with tires that aren't big enough. I know its like trying to half-way do something, and would love to have 35s on it, but other than the BFGs, I haven't found anything that will split the difference, and haven't convinced myself that the extra inch on those is workth $80 or so.

why not spend the money and get the extra inch, it will look better, and you wont have to spend 300 more dollars if you dont like the smaller ones.

Yea, looking for an a/t, one on the more aggressive side hopefully.

Heh, you have me thinking now. I wonder if I can run that BFG without the leveler, until it gets here? And will it require me to have the shift points changed?

If a lift is not financially possible then put the 2.5" spacers up front, do a 1.5" AAL in the rear and throw some 35's on that bad boy. I would go with either the Nitto Terra Grapplers or Mud Grapplers (if you plan to do any offroading) or the Pro Comp Xtreme AT's or MT's (MT's for same reason as Mud Grapplers). IMO the Toyo's & the BFG's just don't look aggressive enough. You need to get the alignment done as quickly as possible after the leveling kit/tires are installed. Trust me you should do it right the first time or you'll end up living with a large sum of regret (lost $$$).

After that you can either get a tuner such as the Edge or the Xcal II that will easily correct your shift points and speedo. If that doesn't fit your budget then you can take the truck to your dealership and the can adjust those things for a small fee (my dealership was going to charged me $80 to do it).

I would stay away from M/T's simply b/c tires like the mud grapplers dont last long at all, and they are very pricey. Since you seem to want to keep the cost down i would go with an at the will last a long time, such as the Pro Comp extreme A/T
