Part of it depends on what you are putting in, prepackaged with new coil or just the strut? 2wd or 4wd?
Jack up the front or your truck and suspend it on jack stands for safety under the frame of the truck. The suspension needs to drop down so jack stands cannot be under the LCA but can be at the back where it connects to the truck.
Remove the wheel.
Unbolt the bottom of the strut.
Unbolt the top (3 bolts accessed from under the hood)
Remove strut assembly.
If replacing only the strut then you need to take it to a shop to compress the coil, remove and replace the strut. Do not attempt this at home, it is dangerous unless you have a strut compressor and since you are asking how to change it, I assume not.
If a complete assemble move to next step.
Replace assembly in reverse order
Replace wheel and torque accordingly

if its struts then yes, 3 bolts on the top of the strut are under the hood (near your washer fluid) and the bottom bolt is on your lower control arm. Should slide right out... You shouldn't have to compress anything if you have the FX4 model
