My '09 XL with some minor ugprades
Here's a before & after shot of my '09 XL 2X4 with 2V 4.6. On the right is what it looked like when I picked it up. On the left is a pic I took today.
I don't have anything against black trim. I agonized for a while whether to replace or repair the original dented bumper, and when I finally decided to replace it, it was about the same cost to buy a chromed unit as it was to buy and paint a primered one, even if I didn't count my labor as worth anything.
After I put the chromed bumper on, I sold the painted original. When the buyer came to pick it up, he just had to have my black grille and swapped me for his original (mint) FX4 piece.
I don't know what the deal is with modern pickups and height, but the bottom line is, I had to get some step bars so I got polished stainless, thinking they might stand up better than the black powder coat.
I didn't care for the original steel rims, and as a 2X4, it was going to need more aggressive rubber before the winter. I found a set of OEM '08 alloys and picked up some Kumho Pathfinder A/Ts in P245-70R17. They were cheap, S speed and Severe Snow rated, with a 60k warranty. I did need 1/4" spacers on the front to clear the caliper brackets.
Anyway, that's what it looks like now. Still some interior work to go!
