So ya, got that wire fixed then when I reattached my clearance lights I added the fuse. Rather have a simple fuse pop then my wires melt again lol. It sucked but lesson learned.

The first picture is my clearance lights going to fuse then going to my headlight switch, that just the side panel removed. The second picture is some switches I have in.

I like your setup but I think it may be a little too "advanced" for me lol. Come help me install and it'll be another story!

Do what SmoKesoul did.. just take your time and do it right the first time.

Wire direct to battery with an inline fuse and a switch, its simple wiring.

Question though, why would wiring directly the the headlight not be "the right" way? I want the lights on when the headlights come on, I don't need a switch specifically for the LED's.

Yes it's a pretty simple setup if you want to turn on with your running lights/head lights. I used a volt meter to find which wire I wanted. That was the power source. Also when you have that panel open there's a large bolt there you can use as a ground. So I can go look what color wire and show you some more photos if you like. Actually ill shoot you a pm in case you do.

Here's a sample of the lighting I did on my truck.

when you do wiring outside of the cab always solder. if you can solder just try to tape it really good and tight. you dont want any water or anything getting to it, itll corrode. try some liquid tape, that stuff is messy though.

if you wire them lights to a switch youll find yourself flipping a switch everytime you get in the truck, thatll get annoying lol. im guessing youre installing these lights "raptor style". youll want them to come on when you turn the parking lights on.

what lights did you purchase from superbrightleds.com? i want to look at the amperage rating, im sure its very low. just curious. the wiring for the LED lights is probably a 22 or smaller gauge wire, more than likely its smaller than a 22 gauge. you shouldnt have to worry about any fuses popping.

For your application it would probably be the easier and more user friendly way but not the "right way". Sure the chances of something going wrong by tapping into the main harness are slim to none and taking that chance probably out weights the hassle of flipping a switch all the time.

I've seen too many time a main harness been cut cause problem in the future. If it were me I'd go off battery, either way its going to look cool so hurry up and do it and post some pics

I do solder my connections and use heat shrink on them and then finally electrical tape.
