Our generation is taken care of by removing the current resistive flasher and adding a time-based flasher. Easy peasy. I would 100% take a flasher relay over adding resistors. Resistors just add resistance to the line, drawing more power and dissipating it as heat, that's why they have big aluminum blocks attached to them.

There's no point in replacing everything with energy efficient LEDs and then killing that efficiency with resistors.

x2, Remove the resistors.

If you’re usijg leds that don’t have much of a difference between the running lights and the signals / brake, it’s most likely because they’re cheap leds.

Heres a cheap led on the pass side and a Sylvania Zevo on the driver side. Huge difference.

lastly, those cheap leds aren’t safe. Other cars can’t tell when you’re braking as well. I’ve seen quite a few trucks with those. I have no clue as to why anyone would upgrade to something subpar.

Default Update!!

Well, I pulled the truck in the shop after work last night and disconnected the resistors that were wired to the rear signals. That resolved my brake light issue, but my signals did hyper flash. Jumped online, found an EP-27 relay at a parts store on my way home. Changed it in the parking lot and although the signals flash a little bit faster than they did from the factory, everything seems to be working properly. Now, though, my cruise control isn't working. It worked on the way into work yesterday, but no such luck this morning. I'm hoping that coincidentally my 3rd brake light went out and that it will be back to normal this evening.

Thank you all for your input on my issue! I truly appreciate it

Well, all of my brake lights are functioning properly, but after some research, some people are saying tail lights without resistors will cause the cruise control to not work... Have any of you experienced this? How did you fix it? Hate to sound like a diva, but 55 freeway miles round trip to/from work each day makes me really want cc....

I am 100% LED, all lights, including third brake light, etc. And I have the flasher relay I posted about... and I have no CC problems whatsoever. So it's potentially the LEDs you're using, in that case.

I agree, it's most likely a cheap LED problem. I am also 100% LED inside and outside with only the flasher and no resistors anywhere and everything works just fine with my CC.

Not exactly sure. I know how bad that sounds, but my brother bought a "kit" for his 2006 Expedition and was sent 2 kits, so he gave me the extra. I'll be picking up a pair of Zevo's after work

Let us know if that fixes it. Also check fuses, you might have blown one messing with the wiring.
