It is so difficult to see anything from the top to see where leak is coming from. Anyone have any ideas? Is the high pressure hose above this location? Is this the common area for leak to manifest when hose has failed? Any thoughts on where the leak is originating?
I've fixed two different power steering fluid leaks over the years and both were at one of the hose's connection to the reservoir. Wipe below both hose connections for fluid to check.
Break or cut the bellows clamp
Pull the boot back
If fluid runs out of the boot, you need to replace the rack
You used to be able to get a seal kit
I resealed hundreds of Tempo and Taurus racks back in the day at the dealer
Took special tools, not worth it unless under warranty, just replace your rack if yours leaks internally
I use ALLDATA.com because it is the best online information for our trucks for those. I’ve got a 2005 5.43 valve that I love and love working on and all that service that online service has any and all information I could possibly need including the TSB’s and any new TSB‘s any anything I need and type in the search and it gives you 1,000,001 different things to check pinpoint test you name it it’s 20 a month. I don’t get it every month but if I know I’m gonna be doing a lot of work on my truck I’ll get it for the month but I’m telling you it’s the best thing you could possibly buy for 20 bucks once you get used to it. There’s no going back and if you would’ve typed in power steering pump it would’ve given you a diagram of everything of it hoses pump everything and possible causes of anything to do with it and any possible fixes as well!!!! no I’m not trying to push a service on anybody. I’m just saying that it’s the best thing I’ve ever found online from working on my on my 2015 3.7 L eco-boost and my 2005 Fords and I love it.
