Old thread but just wondering if anyone has had their shift lights go out. That is, the lights for the p r n d. Mine went out and didn't know if anyone could point me in the right direction.

Thinking about running to radio shack later tomorrow and picking a few of these up. Gonna try the mod this weekend. Except maybe put one at the bottom of each cup holder so it'll light up the bottle.

So I went to Radio Shack and bought a green 1/4 watt LED, and wired it into the shifter light. It's about 3/16" in diameter, and is just bright enough to light up the cup holders, without being so bright that it's distracting. Exactly what I was going for. Notice I put the LED on the driver's side, facing away from me, again, to not be a distraction. I didn't do step by step pics. It's pretty self-explanatory.
I'm going to be running those exact same led's except I'm putting in 4. (2 in front, 2 in back) can I tap into the other light like you did, or do I need to tap into the 12v outlet or something like that?

rmiller23 - you should be able to just tap into the shifter light like I did. Those LED's don't need much amperage at all.

countryboy - Those will work. Only reason I went with the little LED is because I didn't want it to be very bright. Those seem like they may be brighter, but will work fine.

Very cool idea I like it a lot. It serves the purpose you wanted and looks cool at the same time

Yeah I think these are a little bigger then the ones you installed. if they are to bright a quick shot of VHT night shades will tone them down.

I'd have to look, but that sounds right.
