Yeah I've seen the handle replacements, and IIRC they work like your keyless remote so you don't have to wire it (just like the stand alone stick on pads).

tasca sells a replacement but the dealer said it would not work. I hate to spend the $$ and time of installing to be proved wrong. I think the door handle one has to plug in. where have you seen the handle replacements?

I could have sworn I saw a remote one built into a handle, but I can't find it now. I have seen walkthroughs (maybe on a different forum) on installing the wired one.

This thread just reminded me a I need to pick up a second key for my 05. I just called my local Ford dealer and they quoted me $85 for the key and programming.

I asked about using the Ford Fusion key with the integrated fob and he said it's a "luck of the draw" thing.. Sometimes they're compatible, sometimes not, and the key itself is around $140.

You can get the Fusion keys on ebay for around $40 or so.

Did you check your owner's manual to see if the card is in there with the number on it?
Finally took the time to get the back seat off, wasnt a hard project at all. took about 30 minutes. haha but now that i have the code i dont really know if i will ever feel it safe enought to really leave my keys in it somewhere if i dont want to carry them with me. oh well

Just to follow up on this. I picked up a second key from the dealer for $85 last week so I have two working stock keys then ordered the Fusion key for $40 off eBay as Gatorb8 suggested. Had the Fusion key cut earlier today and was able to program both the key and remote without issue.
