Default new keys

This might help someone out there... I just bought a new to me 2000 F150, and within having it for 3 days my key wouldn't turn the engine over, after it fired up just fine all morning. Turns out someone tried to screw around with my truck. I now know my anti-theft works great! I had to have it towed to the local Ford Dealer (Dick Edwards, Manhattan KS) and since the individual I bought it from only had one key, I had to buy a new set (2 keys, $20 a key) and have them both programed to my truck ($60). My bill was just $111 and some change. Not bad at all compared to what someone said earlier of $200...

Programming spare keys
A maximum of eight keys can be coded to your vehicle. Only
SecuriLock keys can be used. To program a coded key yourself, you
will need two previously programmed coded keys (keys that already
operate your vehicle’s engine) and the new unprogrammed key(s) readily
accessible for timely implementation of each step in the procedure.
If two previously programmed coded keys are not available, you must
bring your vehicle to your authorized dealer to have the spare coded
key(s) programmed.
Please read and understand the entire procedure before you begin.
1. Insert the first previously
programmed coded key into the
ignition and turn the ignition from
the 1 (OFF/LOCK) position to the 3
(ON) position (maintain ignition in
the 3 (ON) position for at least one
second, but no more than ten
seconds).
2. Turn ignition from the 3 (ON)
position back to the 1 (OFF/LOCK)
position in order to remove the first coded key from the ignition.
3. Within ten seconds of removing the first coded key, insert the second
previously programmed coded key into the ignition and turn the ignition
from the 1 (OFF/LOCK) position to the 3 (ON) position (maintain
ignition in the 3 (ON) position for at least one second but no more than
ten seconds).
4. Turn the ignition from the 3 (ON) position back to the 1 (OFF/LOCK)
position in order to remove the second coded key from the ignition.
5. Within 10 seconds of removing the second coded key, insert the new
unprogrammed key (new key/valet key) into the ignition and turn the
ignition from the 1 (OFF/LOCK) position to the 3 (ON) position
(maintain ignition in the 3 (ON) position for at least one second, but no
more than ten seconds). This step will program your new key to a coded
key.
6. To program additional new unprogrammed key(s), repeat Steps 1
through 5.
If successful, the new coded key(s) will start the vehicle’s engine and the
theft indicator will illuminate for three seconds and then go out.
If not successful, the new coded key(s) will not start the vehicle’s engine
and the theft indicator will flash on and off and you may repeat Steps 1
through 5. If failure repeats, bring your vehicle to your authorized dealer
to have the new spare key(s) programmed.

Keep trying to get the backseat off, once you get it once, it's easy. I used a screwdriver to pop the clips off from in between the seat back and bottom.

Did you check your owner's manual to see if the card is in there with the number on it?

The dealer near where I live in NC said it would cost $80 to cut and program two keys.

yea i do need to try again, i think my problem the first time was it was the iddle of winter so i was cold, and also i didnt take my sub box out so i couldnt really lift my seat up any to really fit my hand behind there. i dont have an owners manual so no card either.
its weird i have bought 4 cars since i was 16 (22 now) and none of them have ever had an owners manual. ridiculous.
