Default keyless entry

My keyless entry stopped working suddenly. The keypad won't even light up. I looked in the owners manual for a fuse but didn't see one for it. Any ideas on what could be wrong?

I've never had this happen to me, but I have read threads on here about the wiring becoming frayed in the door. The rubber boot that protects the wires when you open and close the door. Take a look at it and see if any wires look frayed or cut.

Does your dome lights work when you open the driver door. I know that sounds silly but the ground to the door switch is the same one that goes to the key pad. I dont know where the splice if its in the door or In the kick panel. The lights get there power and ground from the vsm and do not share any wires that go to the buttons. They only light up if a button is pressed and the only way that the vsm would not see a button press is if the 3 wires that carry the button data were all to fray at the same time. Other wise you would be complaining that your key pad lights up but will not lock or unlock your truck. That being said if the ground wire has failed in the door rubber boot that would cause your symptoms all at once.
You will need to take the door apart and find the plug for the key pad. The black wire pin 3 should have ground at all times this feeds the buttons that then go to the vsm. If you have no ground then you got a broken wire. If you have ground I would say your key pad has failed. Very unlikely but I guess your vsm could have fail too but I would say its the ground wire or the key pad. Guess you could check the vsm by hooking up the key pad and then get some wire and hook one end to a known ground and then stick the other side in the back side of the plug on either the red pin 5, yellow pin 6, or light blue with yellow strip pin 8. If the key pad lights up you got a bad keypad. If your colors are diff hopefully they have the pin number on the plug. Good luck

After searching to forums and doing a lot of reading I finally found the problem. Inside the rubber boot on the driver side door there is 4 wires cut. Looks like its going to be a pain in the but to fix. Ill tackle it tomorrow when I get off work.
