I had the 77 series and had to take it off.

Was making the engine misfire above 3800 rpm.

I miss the sound but it wasn't worth it.

Ya that makes sense now, and In the link he cut out the lip is the necessary? To make it fit or was that just something that was done?

Just sand the pvc down to fit. I wouldn't cut into the fender as there's no need to do that.

gotts mod and k&n drop in filter was definitely the way to go. i used 11" inches of 3" pvc and a 3" pvc pipe connector thing. and sanding it down with a belt sander made it quicker

Did you also sand the inside lip of the fender wall? The guy in the write up for the :gotts mod" sanded the inside lip, but didn't explin why he did it. After reading this gotts mod write up, I really want to do this. Its way cheaper, and it sounds like it give you the same horse power increase.
