The X2 is a decent programmer, used a good number of them before and they support up until 2008 model years so good to go since yours is an 04.

It's a custom tune only type device so you will need to order your own custom tunes for it once it arrives and just make sure it was unmarried first.

For the X2, you can check that by powering it up, go to device info, hit select three times, and should say either aftermarket, stock, or unused and link below shows the breakdown of those three status. Long as it doesn't say aftermarket which means its vin locked still'

X2 9400

Long as it's unlocked, $80 is a really good deal for that!

This is what the guy put in the description:

"SCT Xcalibtator 2 user adjustable flash tool. Programmed by Troyer Performance. Was used on a 2005 F150. Can be sent back for reprogramming for your Ford vehicle."

And when I talked to him he said it has 3 tunes - 87 & 93 performance and tow haul

Hi.

These are obsolete, but solid for an '08 and prior truck. Will not work on a '09+ PCM.

Now you will have to find a custom tuning shop to buy tunes for yer specific truck. You will need the strategy code in yer PCM ( pulled via the device), and the serial number on the back of the X2 ( or on the Device Info screen ). The tuning on the device, if any, will not work on yer vehicle - and there are no canned tunes on an X2.

You do NOT need to send the unit to anyone for retuning - you get the files emailed and you load them yerself.

You can use ANY SCT custom tuning shop to write yer new tunes.

Expect to pay ~$70 and up fer each tune ( prices and 'bundles' vary ).

May need to update the firmware on the device using free SCT Updater software.

Lastly - confirm the device is not VIN-locked otherwise it will cost you ~$150 to unlock it.

EDIT - ah, I see good ol' Franchi is on the case! Thankee, sir!

good luck

The 3 tunes on the programmer are custom tunes for the guys 2005 5.4. Now would I be able to use those since I have a 2004 5.4??

What part of 'NO' do you not understand?

Those are custom tunes, strategy-matched to the specific calibration in the previous owner's truck. There are many, many different calibrations for every model year - and they are all different.

Do not even try to use them. As I said before, when you receive the device:

- ensure it's not VIN-locked
- download and install SCT's software on a Windows pc and check for updates
- connect to yer truck and read out the HEX strategy code from yer PCM and record it
- record the device serial number
- go tune shopping

Is it at all possible for him to update it to 9145 and make some use of the canned tunes??.. I know my old X Cal 2 SF had canned tunes for most ford vehicles, and it was possible to update it to another version number through their software... (If I'm not mistaken)..
