Default Just got my truck! Looking for part suggestions

Hey guys,

Picking up my Grey 2008 F150 FX4 Supercrew next friday!

I have a few things in mind that I'd like to do, and I'm looking for brand/specific part suggestions.

Black mesh grille
Leveling kit (just until I pay off the loan, then I'll probably lift it)
Exhaust

Thanks!
-J

Grille: RBP seems to be popular. Carriage Works maybe
Leveling kit: they are all about the same. HellBent, tough country, readylift to name a few. also could go with the rancho quicklifts.
Exhaust: I like my Magnaflow but also Borla, Banks, or MBRB are pretty popular. try to get a stainless steel kit. The one that aren't stainless seem to rust out pretty bad.

Good luck and congrats on the truck.

Make sure you are caught up on general maint! That would be the first.

The next would be a tuner. I got an edge CTS Wow talk about a completely different truck. So much better!

If you're planning on doing mods, get them done first before deciding a tuner. Some tuners work best for mostly stock trucks.
Grille: Saleen looks pretty sleek, I may invest in one soon if I dont plastidip the one I have now.
Leveler: I have a daystar 2.5 inch. levels it perfectly and have never had a problem in 6 years. Also consider rancho quicklifts, but most of our people go with bilstein 5100s.
Exhaust: many many options. I pieced mine together and love it!

Have any pictures of the truck? That would help in deciding what might look best for your setup.. 2008 FX4 will be a pretty good-looking truck already, so you have a good start!

Grille: There's a WIDE variety of different aftermarket grilles, but in my opinion, the best looking grills are usually OEM grilles from different models (Saleen and Harley being the best-looking and most popular, FX2/Roush/Lariat Chrome are player, and a few others out there.. Search for the "Post up your grille!" forum post)..

Leveling Kit: Not too sure since I don't have any experiences leveling (I have a 2WD that I opted to "drop" the rear roughly 2" to level it out a tad), but have seen quite a few Rough Country, HBS, Rancho QuickLift, and think I've seen people brag about the adjustable Bilstein 5100 Shocks.. (Don't go by this, I'm not even sure if those are actual leveling shocks or not, Haha. Someone will steer you in the right direction!!)

Exhaust: MagnaFlow, Flowmaster, Borla, Roush, Banks, Etc

A few other ideas for subtle/simple modifications: Spray "painting" (plastidip, bumperguard spray, bedliner, undercarriage coating, etc) the exposed fender-well above the rear tires to black, window tint, changing interior lights to LED lights, licence plate/cargo light/reverse lights to LED, smoking/nightshading taillights, HID headlights/foglights, tires, rims, programmer, headunit, audio upgrades, etc.. The list goes on and on!!!

The day I got her:

As she is now:

So far just did tints, and a Ready Lift 2" leveling kit. Going to smoke the tail lights a little tonight (dark red, not black). I'll put up another picture after.

I want to do a black mesh grille as opposed to ones with lines such as the Saleen. Any suggestions for that?

IMO take your time, there are so many different routes you can go with anything- CAI, exhaust, lift kits, tires, rims, Lights, bumpers, brush guards, side steps etc.... your head will spin from the amount of things/makes you can choose from. I spent about 2 weeks just piecing together what I could do... My initial mods were 35 inch tires, Level kit, Flowmaster exhaust, CAI, tint, XD Monster rims... I to this day see where I could have done more research.... goodluck modifying your truck is an ENDLESS process... I have spent 6k so far and thats just stage 1 of what I plan on doing... I am attaching pics of before and after... so far

I used the rustoleum black tint on my Jetta tails and I did 3 light coats and 3 matte clear coats and it came out really nice and dark red. I would suggest doing that for dark red too

Got the tail lights done.

Ordered a magnaflow exhaust. Here's an example of the type of grille I'm looking for:
