Just Got/Installed
So for Christmas i got a K&N CAI, installed it yesterday night no problems at all. Today i went out and bought an SCT x3 programmer, just loaded canned tunes for now didn't play with many settings.(Open to advice on that). Drove around today with the two lots more power, virtually no hesitation in the throttle anymore, I'm very pleased. Now I just want some sound so heres my question.
Is there a real advantage over a cat back system to just swapping mufflers? My mechanic says not really, at least not noticeable to me in everyday driving. Is he right? What are your opinions on the subject? I know it has been recommended in other posts just looking for some actual info. I don't care if i have the dual look i just want the sound, and maybe any small performance gains that come with it. I am limited by price thats why i ask.
Thanks in advance i know thats a long post.

I wanted the flow-master exhaust, and my mechanic ask if I just wanted that specific sound or that brand ?.... Since I just wanted the low tone sound he saved me $100 by installing glasspacks, I got exactly the same dual look and the exact same low V-8 sound, also my mech said that the factory catalytic is warranted so I only did cat back duals. I'm very happy !
i just put on my flowmaster no i did not get any power out of it but i wanted the look and the sound i when with the super 10 the loudest muffler they make it sound sweet but if ur just want sound go buy a flow master 44 and ur get that sound just weld it to the stock exhaust but u will need some pipe but if ur looking for a look buy a kit plus if ur going to do more motor work like i am it will be better to have a free flowing exhaust
For performance I went with a Magnaflo...I've had three different systems on my 04'. I really liked the sound of the Delta 40 Flowmaster but there weren't any performance gains. Next was the 50 series, again no performance gains and I didn't like the sound. Last was the Magnaflow...Offset in, Offset out...3" both sides. Really felt a difference with the butt dyno...I've had Magnaflo on ALL of my other vehicles that I've owned but thought with the V8 the Flowmaster might work better. For some reason it's my opinion that the Flowmasters work better on the Chevy's and Dodge's...
If you go with the Magnaflo, the smaller the muffler the louder the sound, the bigger the muffler the mellower the sound will be. Also, the Magnaflo is a straight through muffler where most of the others have chambers...and multiple chambers at that. A certain amount of back pressure need's to be maintained for low RPM torque, but the Cat. Converter will take care of that and the exhaust manifold logs dont exactly have optimum flow charachteristcs either...so you'd be just fine with a flow through muffler. This would actually be the way to go for pure performance....Hope I've helped..

Yes it allows but I am going to leave it as is because before I uped my tire size the speedo was out now it reads bang on. So know real performance gain difference between the muffler swap and cat back than. I probably will go with a flowmaster. I know there are members that have just muffler deleted and welded in a pipe, opinions?? Anybody have a video didnt find one on youtube> I would like to avoid the crackle that i think will come with that set up.
