Holy cow man.Ya def shop around.by the tool yourself and do it.Even if you don't need the tool,at least you have it.Best 80 bucks i ever spent.ya thats allot man. This is how i figure it.Always expect 1-2 to break off. When me and my friend did mine,my engine only had 48k for miles and 4 broke off.Not saying this will be the case for you,but always plan for 1-2 to break off.

I went to the nearest dealer last week and got a quote. They suggested I try a different dealer
Then I checked at the other dealer (about 45 miles away, had to go there anyways to get an IWE solenoid), they said labor goes from $150 with no problems, to around $600 if every plug breaks.
Oh, and I was quoted at $20 a piece for plugs.

I just had mine done by a ford mechanic at his house. He charged $200 and I bought the plugs for like $8 a piece (motorcraft) at O'Reilly's. He also did some type of induction cleaning and gave me a can of bg44k to run through the next tank. I know not everyone knows a ford mechanic but it is worth it to buddy up to one. Only had one break but he didn't charge extra because it broke an easy way rather than a hard way. He said they can break 3 different ways and 2 of them aren't that bad but the one that is bad is something about chipping away at the electrode to get the tool to work or something.

My local shop quoted me at 300. When I asked about the broken ones they said they never break them and wouldn't give me a quote. They NEVER break them? 300 isn't bad if this is true. I still have 40k left until I need it done though.

Read the spark plug sticky posted by GATORB8 at the top of this forum. Your price that was quoted can be inline as to what other dealerships were charging at one time. They seem to have the proceedure worked out, so prices have come down.
Shop around if you don't plan to do it yourself.

Heh, 'member'
I shopped around and had some quotes between 250 to 400 just to do the job, 20 a plug, and an hour of labor for each one that broke.
I did it myself, broke one and saved a bundle of money. It wasn't a big deal, just make sure you have the extraction tool before you start this job.
