check charging system

check charging system
check charging system message came on the other day because alt was not putting out . Went to Advanced auto and got another alternator, unfortunately all they had were the remanufactured ones available... now my battery light is on and the check charging system message has reappeared ....when I connect the Fluke to the battery its showing 12.54 volts after start up it goes to 14.67 to 14.85...battery is about a year old and until now no issues... the battery light still comes on and message still appears.... light and message don't come on right away but only takes about 15 seconds ...does anyone think that this could just be and overcharging problem ? all cables and connections have been tested and cleaned just in case.
thanks

That does seem a bit high, at least from what I know. My truck never goes over 14.1. Usually hovers around 13.9-14.1. But then again for all I know I could be running too low. I don't know what it's supposed to be at.

Rick , I did not clear any codes as I was aware there would be any since the CEL was not on ,
I went back to Advance Auto they gave me a bit of run around but since they did not have another alternator in stock they finally refunded my money. Then I went to the Zone ( not to many options at this point ), they had a new alternator in stock , I then proceeded back home and as most of you know its not a big job to replace the alt. started the truck up light goes out , put the fluke back on the terminals 14.1 14.2 volts indicated great and after 15 miles or so everything still operating as advertised.
only thing I may have done different is to pay more money and get a new motorcraft alt BUT as I need the truck for work I will settle for it being fixed. Apparently these trucks are sensitive to voltage.
Thanks for the replies
