Default Data Graphing and data comparison

Notice your cam error was quiet until you torqued up the first time. But had terrible trouble staying aligned. Then on idle down, cam error went crazy - I think because RPM and load was irregular. OR some other reason that I don't understand.

But even after second torque UP, VCT-DC1 and 2 do not stay close (Note third graph - of my 2004). And Cams have trouble staying in sync with Requested retard (Cam Error).

EDIT: 1/3/2019 7:30pm. My apologies. The 'second' attached graph was not positioned on the spreadsheet where the 'data ranges' graphed were showing highlighted. The second graph 'overlaps' the end of the first by a few spreadsheet lines (begins at about line 203 and proceeds through the second Torque UP.

Default DATA for COMPARISON

Here is a graph of the IDLE RPM on my 2004. The distinct RPM drop is when I shifted into 2nd gear to do the Torque UP in the prior graph.

Yessir, I pulled the motor and dropped it off. He said my crank was to damaged,. So we agreed to buy a "Crank Kit" ,...

on the idle thing... do you think the idle air is still learning?

And yes, I am very frustrated at this whole thing. I mean you know how many man hours I have in this motor and then to get it back from the shop and have an oil pressure problem. This shop its all they do. Same guy been in business same spot for 20 years.

Wow, what a difference! So in the mean time I have the VVTs unplugged... Hey also this is a flex fuel system... which I have never put that fuel in it....

I can not express the amount of gratitude I have for you giving me this time like you have.. you are a gentlemen and a scholar in the school of these motors... I hope that one day I can help you as much as you have helped me!

Nice looking power plant. Sorry you had to go that route. I Would have given _ANYTHING_ to know exactly what was going on with the old one.

I think Torque Pro was showing us exactly what was going on - but he age old paradox, the very best diagnostics sometimes doesn't tell us what the specific fix is.

This FORDMAKEULOCO video (at 2:16 through about 2:28) is displaying on the bottom two chart lines what I believe to be the IDENTICAL symptom that we witnessed and captured with your Torque Pro Logs above. MAKO's equipment visually exhibited it differently (like a storage scope) but the hash marks are all over the place around ZERO degrees on the bottom two graph lines. I think that engine was doing the identical thing yours was. The ONLY mechanical explination I can think of is the oil pressure is insufficient to keep the tensioners extended and all slack removed from chains AND hold phaser vanes at a stable position. Then the camshaft/phaser begins to jump forward/backward against the chain slack causing the CPS to see the phaser fingers at erratic positions each revolution.
