Default 5.4 whinning Noise

After a weekend offroading i am now hearing a load whinning noise as i accelerate. I know the idler tension-er and pully have been replaced. Could this be another pully or something with the powersteering or altenator bearing? any information would really help me out

I'm going with the alternator bearings. Mine have been whining for about a month now. Putting out the right voltage, but noisy. While the truck is running, put a long handled screwdriver up to your ear, and listen to the alternator through it. It will make a bunch of noise if that's your problem. I wouldn't even bother splitting it open to replace the bearings, just get a new one.
Until then, just tell everyone that noise is your supercharger.

When my alternator started whining, I pulled it and attempted to have the bearings replaced. The guy that we building it advised me that on our type alternators that the regulator is impossible to test because of the type that it is. He built it anyways and as soon as I reinstalled it, it burned up the regulator. Go figure. You are better off buying a brand new one instead of a remanned because of all the issues with a remanned one. I ended up just replacing mine and upgrading it while I was at it due to all the extra equipment I run on my truck.

I believe I have found my problem. It was not the power steering pump, but a idler pully right next to the power steering pump. Some dirt probably got into the bearings while offroading and wrecked them. With the motor turned off i can slightly wiggle the pulley.

Ya thats what i did. I replaced the two idler pulleys next to the water pump. I did have another issue. I drive a 2004 f150 and ive had the truck for just over 7 thousand miles and have done three oil changes. Is it normal for the 5.4 valves to tick after changing the oil? I only mean tick for a second or 2 until the oil gets back to the cylinder heads. It has happened every time I change the oil and was just concerned. It probably has something to do cam phasers and timing chain. It does have a slight tick that got better after i fixed one of the manifolds. Just wondering if anyone can give me any insight.
