Default Interior Lights won't go out??????

'06 FX4, after all of the doors are closed the interior lights stay on for approximately one minute afterwards, then they will click off.

Any Ideas?

Default Check Door Ajar Switches

My 2002 F250 occassionally has the same problem. It's the door ajar switch in the front passenger door that doesn't work properly. open the door, and jiggle the latch that connects to the door jam and it may go off. If not, be patient, it will eventually reset.

My 04, fathers 06, and buddies 05 all do the same thing. There timed. They all go out around a minute after the trucks doors are opened or its shut off. Always thought that was the design. Not an issue, unless Im misunderstanding you?

if your light is staying on longer than it should be spray some wd-40 or the like into the door latch then open and close the door a few times. that should free it up.

our trucks dont use a plunger like older vehicles, its integrated into the latch.

You didn't say if they still stayed on if you turned the ignition on or started the engine. They will stay on for a timed amount of time, but if you start the truck up that should short circuit that timer and turn the lights out (soft shut-off). If they stay on even when it's started, until the timer times out, there may be a problem in the SCM (security control module) which is, I believe, what controls that feature.

True, but they should only remain on for 15 to 20 seconds (after truck is shut down; key off). 1 minute is excessive.

Thanks guys. It's a pain in the butt when you have to drive down the highway with your interior's on. Coincidentally enough, my remote start isn't working now either and I think their related.

So you think it's called a SCM Code 7? I'll check with the dealer to see if they is such a demon.
