I need to replace my muffler on my4.6 what is the best one for good sound and not horrably loud.

My truck came with a thrush muffler and dual tips when I bought it, first thing I did was took it off and put the borla SISO kit on it. I really like the borla, just what I wanted, truly quiet enough that it could be factory exhaust. I would also like to hear the sound with high flow cats, but I won't do it to mine. I like a flowmaster 40 series sound also but I don't think it fits the personality of my truck.

I'm a flowmaster diehard... The muffler will definitely make your truck "louder". But the big echo is from the pipes, that is what makes the truck really loud and gives it that deeper sound. So, if you don't want an echo then don't put big pipes and tips on your truck after you do the muffler.

Like my truck, I put a flowmaster muffler on my truck. Then I put 18" x 3.5" in. tips on my dual pipes and the noise was substantially loud and meaner.... And I also have a 5.4L.

i like the sound of flowmaster's new outlaw series mufflers but, most flowmasters hurt power.
