Interesting find when doing Cam Phaser Swap
So I bought this 2005 F150 a while back. I have been repairing small things here and there and all that is left is the cam phasers. I knew they were bad going into this. Mainly just the drivers one makes noise. When I got it tore down (partially) the phaser looks brand new. The chain looks like it has slack though. I will get the chain cover off tomorrow. Do you guys think I should replace the phaser anyways although it looks new. I don't want to tear this apart again but it looks new. I plan to do chains, guides, and tensioners for sure though. Let me know your thoughts. Truck has 110,000 miles.

What pushed you to check the phasers? If it was the telltale sound, check to make sure they were put on correctly and that everything else under the front cover is working. While you've got the valve covers off, look for any dead lifters or bad roller rocker arms. If all that stuff checks out, you may want to consider taking your truck in to have them check for an exhaust manifold leak.

Well when I bought it I was told the phasers were bad. The truck runs and idles good to begin with but after like fifteen minutes or so the idle gets really rough, it wants to kill (usually doesn't), and I have had power loss. I did spark plugs and cleaned the throttle body. Haven't had the power loss issue since but I don't put miles on it since it is a project truck. I used a stethoscope and the noise was coming directly from the phaser pictured. But if I replace tensioners, chains, and guides so the phaser gets adequate oil supply do you think I should still replace phaser even though it looks brand new and has clearly been replaced. The part number on the phaser matches the part number of the phaser I bought from autozone, so that tells me it is not an original ford part, correct?

You know what brand they are? People on here like to stick with MC for the phasers. Dorman's haven't been working out too well in that department. Even if they were replaced once, doesn't mean they are good now.

I have no real issues putting the new ones in, I actually planned on it since I'm in here. @ Allinkdupp, How can you tell that it looks sprung? I didn't see a difference between the new one from autozone and the one on the truck.
