Many threads on this section about it. Search "cluster" in the 2004 to 2008 forum. Here's one to get you started:

Being that you have an 05, stick with a cluster from 04-06. If you get a cluster from 07-08, they have TPMS, which your truck doesn't have and you'd end up with a warning on the dash.

Any cluster from 2004-2006 from a truck that has manual AC controls will work in your truck. It'll be plug and play for your year.

Either get one that has similar miles, pay a dealer to add the as built data, or send your current cluster along with your new one to a speedometer shop to have it cloned.

Personally, is just get one with similar miles and plug it in.

The only issue I had when switching my XLT gauges to FX4 was the FX4 gauges will leave a slight gap. You wouldn't notice unless you really looked for it. Also, you CAN still drive your vehicle without the gauges, but your power windows, AC and radio wont work.

A slight gap where? All the gauge clusters are built to the same size spec. They all fit in the same hole so a gap is strange and probably a symptom of something else warping.

OP follow 08 XL's advice and you should be fine.

I'll get a photo and post it. It isn't a large gap, but it is there. Along the edges, closer to the bottom.
