Default income tax time pickle

Well income tax's are coming around and I believe i'm going to get a decent portion back 1k-1800

Now not sure what I want to do with it..

I have a 2006 f150 lariat 138k miles atm.

Or do i buy some new tires.. I have 305/55/20's that are about on there last leg..

I have a 1-2 second rattle on startup..

I'd do new chains/guides/phasers/vct's the whole nine yards. which is about 1k (I do labor)

I have what i believe is a manifold leak...

I want to do full long tubes if i do.

1,500 for Dynatech Long Tube Headers
w/Catted Y-Pipe

Or do i install 6 inch lift... which is like 1,600-1,800

or do I install 4.56's for future lift plans

OR.... do i buy a 800 dollar jeep and lift that/lockers and beat the **** out of it and mudding/trail ride

Of course the mods and the toys sound better but if you want to keep your truck and keeping reliable and running better. I would put the money into maintaining your truck.

I do all my own work if i can. I've been a DIYER for a long time and just recently started turning wrenches at a dealership with access to all sorts of great stuff.. i have very good knowledge of mechanics

Well, I don't have phaser noise or anything crazy... just have a 2 second rattle sometimes on start up from tensioner leaking down..

I'm also a bit confused on what kind of lift can i get for 1600 that's going to be good.

and I dont know if i should regear first...

or if i should gain hp/low end with full headers....

or if a toy would be great

Yeah you don't want to cheap out on a lift kit if you want it to be a good one.

I think you would benefit more from a regear then headers.

it's so hard lol... I think i'll get more benefit from the headers tho? 4.56's wont give me any better gas mileage

if i get headers i think i'll have to get a php tune for my gyphon

I have 2006 f150 lariat 5.4 305/55/20's and i get about 20 mpg at 55 at 85 i get about 11-12 mpg

I do want to lift/ 35's and 4.56s in the future..

I also want to do tow mirrors :\

other then 6 inch lift 4.56's 35's tow mirrors and a tune

I dont see anything else to do to it!

Yeah header plus a tune you will see more from them. Did not realize you would be getting a tune as well.

And yes it's a struggle when you want it all but only have so much $ to spend

Personally I'd decrease my withholding and stop giving the Fed. Govt. an interest free loan.

If you have the couple second rattle at startup, I would do the timing components and also do the phasers while in there. Also, if you do the maintenance yourself, you can do the timing components, phasers and put in new lash adjusters and followers for about $800, then you have enough money left over to do new stock manifolds (I haven't checked the price of headers but maybe those instead). The things that I listed with the stock exhaust manifolds gets you to about a thousand, then the rest towards tires if you haven't got them by check time. I always like to make sure my truck is running right before I do any mods, that way if there is any troubleshooting involved, I don't have to troubleshoot multiple things at the same time. I also prefer to have it running right over just looking good. After all, you want to drive it and not use it as a lawn ornament. Just my 2 cents, good luck.

If it were me, I would two things.
If you don't have any phaser knock, I'd just replace the tensioners and guides for now. That would be pretty cheap.
Then, I would buy the Jeep. If you can find one for $800 that runs and drives without needing major work, that's a good deal. There is a whole different world of aftermarket stuff for Jeeps, so you can do more than with the F150.
