And the search tool. This is a common topic that is discussed here often. Select the search, then enter "gas mileage". Sit back, and read on what others have done to try and gain an extra mile or two from the 5.4 (can apply to the 4.6 and 4.2 as well).

Welacome aboard!

Why buy a V8 if you want good gas mileage... I can suggest a ford fiesta! Mom got one and gets 41 MPG highway. Truck and good gas mileage aren't ment to be in the same sentence if you ask me. Well without spending an assload on mods atleast.

I've got a coworker that managed to coax 2.5 mpg from a $300 exhaust kit. Even if you got half of that, it'd pay for itself within a year and a half. It's also pretty common to hear of a increases of a couple mpgs with Edge Evo tuners. CAI is still disputed, as is the Gotts mod. Bigger wheels and tires will never help, so don't even look at them if you want to save your gas.

Unless you got lighter tires and wheels but the money spent on that would probably take a lot of time to recover.

I get 24.5 mpg on the way to work - downhill for 35 miles. 3000' elevation to the beach. I am looking for someone to trailer or tow me home each day to retain this great MPG. That is my mod. I am having trouble finding someone though. Maybe AAA can help me out?

Let's not forget my favorite;

RPM and tire pressure is what helps me the most. General maintenance too.

I ended back in my driveway with 18.3 via electronic - computerized Ford calculation. Hardly any slowing and no stopping due to traffic and cruise control enabled at 70mph. Should be about 12.5 or so on the way home.

I'd take 18.3 all day in mine. I averaged 18.5 a couple weeks back over a 200 mile highway drive but I had a 25 MPH tail wind. I sit at 16 usually which is a .6 MPG increase after a Gryphon, CAI, and exhaust. So about $750 for .6 MPG's. Good thing I was going for horsepower and not MPG's.

Exhaust is the worst thing for helping mpg's, you always drive it like you stole it to hears that awesome v8 rumble lol.
