impact on 3v 5.4 spark plugs?
Ok,I've been researching the nightmare of changing spark plugs. I ran across a video on you tube of a guy who says bring engine to operating temperature and buzz them out with a 3/8 impact with no breaking. Has anyone tried this? I understand steel plug and aluminum head problem, and carbon locking the plug in the combustion chamber,so the vibration of the impact makes sense, but people act like these plugs are made of glass.

I did it with my ridged x4 cordless impact and a couple wobble drive extensions. Not 1 plug broke.. I did it on my dads truck who likely didn't put a drop a of seafoam or techron in the gas tank like I suggested prior to the plug change.
The threads are not the issue, its the smooth shank on the plug that freezes to the heads with carbon buildup. Just burp the trigger on the impact, DO NOT lay on the trigger.
I still got to do them on my truck, but for safety sake, i want to make sure its a weekend project.. Don't do it if you have to go to work at 6am the next day, its still a risky procedure.. But If your misfiring like crazy, then do it ASAP.

Its mileage is why I'm looking in to it. I just got the truck,it has 125k on it. Just had cop die yesterday on way to work. I really like this truck, but being a Chevy guy down deep, I find myself thinking Wtf about Fords engineers. Lol

Thats how I do them. But I recomend taking the bolt out of the coils then getting it good and hotand zipping them out right away. We never put anything in the gas at work. If they have a bunch of miles ill run them a few miles down the interstate in second gear. If you try it on a cold engine youll probaly break 6 outa 8
