Ignition cylinder removal help?

Hi all, thanks for reading. I have an 04 new body lariat super crew. I’d been having trouble with it taking multiple tries to start, eventually had trouble turning the key & now it won’t start at all. It seems to me replacing the key cylinder was where to start & I got a rebuild kit. Trouble is my cylinder doesn’t look or act like what I’ve seen online anywhere. There is a hole but it doesn’t do anything or depress a tab. I’d love help figuring out what I’m missing or doing wrong, attaching a pic. Thank you!

Never messed with one . But me I would have pinned down the electric path first ,we have the drawings . If the key was turning most times then it is a pats problem or a failed path .The pats system tells the pcm to supply a ground to the start relay if its happy > The 12vdc+ path to the start relay goes under the truck to the trans switch so lots to go wrong there .
A test light is all you need to eliminate some things .

Hope someone can help with this mechanical problem .

Take a look at the FordTechMakuloco video

Key needs to be in the ON position so you may have to jiggle things a bit to get to the ON position.

thanks but, again, this isn’t what’s in my truck. Totally different and this video is the body style before mine.

Thanks all but we got it. It took a shorter person to be able to get underneath to see better, and another person to twist & pull on the cylinder to line it up right.
thanks again

Glad you got the cly in . Does it start now ? Did you replace both the mechanical and the electrical switch . Or was it a linkage problem .
