I had the same problem and called Lisle. They said to drill out the porcelein. The problem was the Lisle tool. I had to buy two to finish a job that took 5 days. Threads suck on the Lisle tool.

wow. they seriously told you that? I mean first of all the drill bit would need to be at least 9" long or something like that. then you'd technically be drilling blind down that dark hole. and how in the world do you even do that on number #8?? tiny right angle drill? you sure arent getting a regular drill over the top of that hole.

drill out the porcelain...about the dumbest thing I've ever heard of coming from a specialty tool manufacturer...

I broke 5 out of 8 plugs and broke them 3 different ways. Took about 5hrs but the Lisle tool worked brilliantly every time. I lucked out and one of the ones that came out in one piece was the passenger side one in back against the firewall. It didnt make any noise coming out so i initially thought i broke it. Not a fun job by any means but i took my time and doing them by hand wasnt a problem.

The reason you screwed the threads up on the tool is because you need to get and loose chunks of porcelain out before you thread the puller in. The porcelain will tear apart threads on any tool or tap.

if you break the lower nose of the plug off try turning the engine over and this will blow out the electrode and then the porcelin can push down more with out breaking the ground strap.just bought the lisle tool i have changed these before at 40k and broke two used an epoxy tool worked well but it was a learning process
