no, what it is...is the OD is burnt out completely. it goes through the gears 1...2...3... and when it is supposed to shift to 4, it doesn't engage.. it's like in a manual where the clutch isn't engaged. it just revs up and won't go into the 4th gear at all. there's no going to 3rd to 4th and 4th to 3rd.

 

crazy was trying to tell you how you got to where your at now. Traffic and driving habits can cause a failure. Towing in od can also burn up a trans or driving the he** out of it can come back to get ya. The problem may have nothing to do with the od, Something else may have come apart and lodged in the od part of the valve body. Transmissions are hard to trouble shoot thats why 99% of shops will just stick in a rebuilt if anything is acting up.
