Default I was considering changing

The front seat console I have to one that has the floor shift mounted in it. Has anyone done this before I have a 04 fx4 with column shift.

I would change to the floor console that came on a truck with the column shift so you get an extra cubby hole rather than trying to convert the shift linkage.

A subject line is meat to be descriptive, not the beginning of a sentence.

I much prefer the column. Can’t see a single reason to want the floor shifter (unless I guess if you prefer the “look”).

You get a better shift on the floor. And its cooool. Especially if you have a tall shift lever on it.

I preferred it way more than i thought i would.

However, I can't remember a time after about 2001 that I needed somebody to sit in the middle of a front bench seat.

And if it is a female it works out better if she sits in the middle.

I’ve never had anyone sit in middle, so not a primary reason I prefer it. Although it is nice to know there is a legal and safe extra space there if ever needed.
