No pics of the wall I already dropped the motor off at the machine shop. I would like to do cams but at this point I just want it to run and stay together I know cams wont hurt it but I'm a boilermaker and I put a lot of miles on it I just want it dependable. I have other toys I squeeze hp out of

Not trying to be critical but from the piston in the picture it doesn't look melted it looks dynamited [detonation] caused by one or more of the following. lean mix, bad gas, to much advance, bad knock sensor, manifold / gasket leak and if not corrected it will repeat

I hear ya. Just take your time with the rebuild. Check the intake runner for cylinder 5 for leaks. Replace the gaskets. Yes the are reuseable but at this point they are also a suspect. I would replace at least that one injector as it is suspect to. Yes you can have it flow tested and even visually check the gasket, but the cost of that verses replacement and the peace of mind can't be beat. Look to www.rockauto.com for some of the best deals on parts. Also www.advanceauto.com I don't buy anything in there store anymore. I order ahead online and enter P20 in the code box for 20% off. Depending on how quick I need it I either go pick it up a few minutes later or just have it shipped free to the house. I use it for everything from plugs and filters to big ticket items. Hope this helps. Also sometimes there is a better code offer on their site.

If your intake is bad or leaking I have my factory intake in a box with 35,595 miles on it. PM me if you need it. Already sold my injectors.

Take the injector from that cylinder and bench test it to see if it leaks. Did you ever hear it ping?

I'd react the same way you did if someone said that to me. Some people just talk smack and that's all they can do. Like you said, you wouldn't have the piston out if you didn't know what you were doing.

No kidding. When I read the #2 post it came off as an insult. Not a helpful post not informative. If it was a sincere response then the guy needs a lesson in tact. Asking what kind of regular service has been performed on the truck and how often would have been a respectful approach coming from someone looking to help. A blunt statement like that after someone has suffered a loss is coming from a
