Default HVAC door flops. Video.

When the door is closed I have the hvac system on. I turn the vent selector off, the door raises, then flops closed, then opens back half way.

That actuator looks like a PITA to get to, but looks like that's where I have to go.

Thoughts?

I thought you would come at me with much more than that.

The mode door actuator is in the driver side footwell above the pedals. It’s really not that hard to get to or remove. You just have to lay on your back.

Just ANOTHER crap actuator in a Ford. They honestly need to stop cheaping out on these things. It's never any fun to replace.
The new explorers have like 3 or 4 of them that are a known issue as well.
Plastic junk.

The parts in the video is behind the glove box in the far right corner of the cab. Are you saying the real problem is a totally different actuator on the drivers side?

I thought the one that’s hard to get to was the blend door, not the mode door? When I was having issues with the doors getting stuck on defrost (ended up just being the stuck foam) I ordered a new mode door actuator and took mine out to test. It’s above the gas pedal. That is the actuator that controls the doors.

The blend door door is for heat/cool blend control.

I'm pretty sure this is the recirculation door. There is no issue with the blend door. There is really no issue with the whole hvac system as everything functions as it should.

It's just annoying whenever I turn the vent selector to the off position or turn the truck off with the hvac on you here this door flop.

Hi, sorry to post on this old thread. I have an '04, and my recirculator suddenly stopped working. I did notice a faint squeak sound while the door would switch to recirculate for a few weeks before it stopped recirculating. The video in your OP is not available anymore. I cannot find anything online on how to get to the actuator. Did you fix your issue? Do you have another video or source I can use to fix mine? Thank you very much.
