Well that's a bummer. I guess that makes the 5 speed OP found even more rare. Especially since it isn't a stripped work truck

Yeah I from what ive seen in my search so far a manual transmission truck that is not the base work truck is rare no matter what the make. I am determined to get another stick shift in a pickup truck while I still can. Soon they may be extinct. There is no 1/2 ton truck that offers a manual brand new. The only way to get a new truck with a manual is a dodge 3500 with the cummins diesel, nissan frontier, or toyota tacoma. I have researched and found that the last f150 stick shift was in 2008 and that was only 2 wheel drive with the 4.2 V6.
The last Chevy/GMC 1500 manual trans was in 2007 but it could be v6 or v8 and 4x4.
Dodge had a 6 speed manual in their 1500 that was made until 2008.

It is a bummer that all of the auto makers have discontinued the manual transmission in pickup trucks. I guess their is not enough demand.

I share your grief, its a true shame they're going away. thats exactly it, not enough demand, but it sucks for the few manual lovers left. I suppose we still have swaps, but it seems like absolutely everything is slowly going all auto.....even f-750s will be all auto come 2016 MY....

The real fun is when you drive 2 different trucks on a daily basis, one auto and one manual. Do a lot of stop sign stalls that way...

I have driven a manual 5spd / 4 banger S10 for the last 15 years and one of the things I was looking forward to on my new to me truck is a automatic. 15 years of daily driving was enough. It never bothered me but I sure like the auto. If I had a sports car, I think I would want a manual again.

I have experienced the ghost clutch and shifter as well in my Excursion. It never came in a manual.
