Default How much and what kind of coolant

I have an 07 f150 bout to do a body lift on. It says to drain all the coolant out (you have to disconnect some radiator hoses. My question is do I have to use any special kind of coolant and how much will I need to refill?

Awesome thank you. Is the motorcraft gold personal preference or is that what kind our trucks take. For instance I remembered something about chevy's taking dexcool or something like that.

touche, although that would be on a completely drained system, assumin you could get every last ounce out of the system, and even still at a 50/50 mix youd only need 2.5 gallons of coolant hence why i said 2.. you essentially will use about 1.5 gallons of coolant and 1.5 gallons of water on a drain and fill for the purpose of what hes doing and if you dont get the 50/50 blend exact dont worry it will be ok.. youd even be ok dumping a gallon of coolant and the rest water if you really wanted too

But if he is going to drain it, why not drain it all and use new?

I'm hoping I won't have to. I just have to cut the top hose and the hose going into resovoir so if I do it when it's cold hopefully I won't have too much to drain.
