Do a Google search for Weld-Mount. They make all sorts of self-adhesive fasteners and wire hangers. You could get their self-adhesive zip-tie mounts and some zip-ties and those suckers would never come off.

They're known in the aeronautical and marine industries, where they don't like drilling holes if they don't have to.

That's a huge help. Thanks I looked into it, and they look like they would work really good. Now I just got to figure out where to buy them and how much.

I'm not sure if you said this or not but do they stay on when you're driving down the road? I really want to do this now.

I might do something like this too, but mine will be hooked up to a switch in the cab so i can turn them on and off as i please and not just with the cab lights, or maybe with the fogs so i don't forget to turn them off some time and kill my battery

GOOD JOB ON THE POST BY THE WAY

No, they only come on when I either unlock the truck, open the door, or turn the dimmer switch all the way up. Basically, every time the dome light comes on.

I really like how I have mine hooked up. Whenever I'm in a parking lot at night and walking up to the truck, I hit the unlock button on my key fob and the ground lights up. I might try and get a relay and run a toggle switch so that I can have them on with a toggle switch too.

you could run a double switch so it stays on with your fob set up and then flick the switch to leave them on when ever you want, then when you get out of the truck you just switch it back so they stay on until the timer turns them off

One way I have found to mount the strips is with thin aluminum bar, angel iron or channel... a 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch angle is the easiest to work with... tape the led strip to the length of aluminum then you can drill holes where needed for screws or zip ties... or even two sided tape will hold it ... This also makes it easy to remove the strip if you need to re-solder

Awesome write up!

I just ordered my led'a yesterday hopefully they get here soon.

One question I do have is do you need to add a relay to these? Also how would I wire them to turn on how you have them connected but also have a switch to turn them on when I please? These would be helpful when changing a tire in the middle of the night in the middle of no where. I also ordered some for my truck bed planning on sticking them I under the rails to light up my bed at night.

Thanks again!
