How to get more power out of 5.4?
Okay guys I just sold my powerstroke 6.0, and it had some ***** that's for sure, I've had 5.4s in the past and no there alright but a dog compared my 6.oh, anyways I'm wondering what I could do to boost a 5.4 up. Not looking to put a whole bunch of money into it. Or I might as well just buy another stroker. Thanks guys....

I am in the same boat, had a 6.0 chipped and piped, intake. Tons of power, now I have a truck that will run all the time and start below freezing instead, mine's a 2009 5.4. I'm going to get a chip in the next couple of weeks here, there is lots of threads on which chip is best. I'm keeping the factory exhaust and may or may not do an intake, running premium makes a noticeable difference too.

I have an "old" programmer on my 06 ext, short bed with a 6" suspension and 35's on 17's. The programmer gives me more HP but like I said it's an old one that you plug in and then put it away after programming and I also have CAI and pipes. There's the edge evolution which is dash mounted which you might like considering the features and the price isn't bad at all. My programmer is a hypertech power programmer III (big ole box) but hey it still works for me.

The electric fan replaces the regular fan that runs off the motor. See the regular fan runs off the engine, so the engine waste more energy when ever it turns on. The electric fan runs off the battery. You can look it up on the forum not to long ago there was a tread of it.

I'm just gonna ask you rather than go back to the thread about the fan. What would happen, take the "motor-controlled" fan off and replace it with an electric one ?

Yes, you take off the "motor controlled" fan off,and instead Install an electrical fan. Some guys get a used one off of a Taurus or windstar. Then you mount them behind the radiator and get a control switch and the fans will run like the regular fan but will feed off the battery instead. Don't quote me on this but I believe you get like 20 pound of torque and I forgot how much of hp. I plan on doing this to my truck once it gets warmer out.
