How the **** do you get to the starter on 07 f150 5.4
 

How the ****. Assuming it's 3 bolts holding it in, I've got all but the very top....m how the hell do you get to it

I had to use a bunch of different extensions but the secret is to use a flexible extension. It's a real pain in the *** but just keep working on it. Also I wouldn't recommend putting the top bolt back in, I've had mine removed for over 100k with no issues.

Ditto for mudking. Bunch of diff length and flexible extentions and I put mine back in cause I'm anal and its just as fun

I didn't have that much trouble getting to that top bolt.

I used a 1/4" rachet with a 3" extension and a regular height 13mm socket. I was able to get almost a quarter turn on it each time.

It also helps to position yourself under the truck correctly. I layed on my back, feet out towards the drivers door. Coming from that angle I could get both hands up and around the starter motor much easier.

I was able to complete my starter motor replacement in a little less than an hour, and I've never done it before.

I'm 6' tall and 250lbs and NOT small hands.
