I worked myself up to the truck...paid off and started moding my Z, sold it for asking price. Paid cash and bought my truck outright (bought used) in the hopes with the knowledge this truck will last. Just recently started doing small stuff to the truck. I'm in no rush because the truck is going to have to last. Not sure I want to do much more to the truck besides some minor exterior stuff and perhaps a screen in the back for the kiddo. My deal is if you can't do it yourself, then don't do it, excluding obvious stuff such as tuning etc. Saves a lot of $ on install costs if you do it yourself. Also, buy only what you can afford.

You sir are right!!! My wife tells me to quit all the time and that the money isnt worth it. She's right the money isnt worth it for all the things I miss but it is worth knowing my kids and family have everything they want and its worth making a better future for my family and me. I look at the big picture but yes it does suck being gone 9 months a year!!!!

Ok so thank you to everyone's advice! Especially to those who recommended Craig's list! I got on this morning and after reading all y'alls post I got on Craig's list and found the exact set of rims and tires I've been wanting. Tires are used and prob won't be too long before I have to get more, but the rims are spotless and I got a great deal on both. Im installing them tomorrow and I'll try to post some pics. (before & after)

I got my truck for a steal. Something I sacrificed was the resale of it though. I don't plan on selling it ever. I got a totaled truck. Cosmetically it was totaled. Meaning dents and scratches enough to cost more than 70% of the cost of the truck. It was cheap to buy and will be really cheap if I sell it. I fixed it up and saved TONS of money doing all the work myself. I happen to paint vehicles for a living though. The truck has 104,900 mi on it now and the engine has a ticking noise. I'm saving up for a new one. I've got the money now and I've saved for 3 weeks. Only buy what you need is my best advise. I buy gas, gas for my girlfriend, food, utilities and one loan. Honestly I wish my credit score was better though. If you know you can pay the stuff off over time (stead job with decent checks.) Then put it on credit and pay more than minimum. One day I plan on buying something I don't have to mod and I'll need credit. Credit I have to build.
The point of my NOVEL lol... do work yourself, buy when you can afford, don't turn your nose up to credit (it can help) and save up. Oh and Ebay and Craigslist! I got an amp, box, and two 15" l7s for $300. Oh and a RBP grille that costs 800 new for 100 bucks. All I had to do was paint it.
