How to connect Vacuum Hose on rear intake manifold
My truck showed codes P2195 AND p2197 for lean O2 Sensors and was running rough at idle and sometimes stalling the engine. I found that a vacuum hose was off that ran the 4wd and fuel regulator. It connects to the passenger side rear intake at the bottom. I can't find any directions that will allow me to re-connect without taking off the intake manifold. Does anyone have a suggestion???

I know this post is old, but I just had the same problem and I found the fix.
I replaced my IWE solenoid and when I was done I discovered I had no vacuum. Then my engine light came on with codes P2195, P2197, P0171, and P0174. It didn’t take long to figure out I had a vacuum leak (probably with the IWE system). Then I discovered it was the hose coming off the back of the intake manifold, yikes!
I came across this post while searching for a solution. I didn’t find any except for the “remove intake manifold” ones. After trying to reach the port on the back of the intake manifold, and couldn’t, I took my truck into the local Ford Dealer hoping they had a fix. After being in their shop all day I got a call that it wasn’t fixed because they could not get to the port, they wanted to charge me 3 hrs labor and then another $275 or more to remove the intake. After saying no and talking to the service manager he knocked it down to their 1 hr minimum (still too much I thought) but whatever.
Now I was back to the same problem which I had to fix and I found one. I picked up an inspection camera from Harbor Freight for $79.99 on sale.
Feeding the lens down behind the intake manifold and the firewall after some time I was able to locate the inlet port that the IWE hose fell off. I then taped the flexible lens tube down so it couldn’t move. Next I move the IWE vac line around, up and down, etc until I got it lined up on the end of the inlet tube. At that point I started the engine so the inlet tube would have a vacuum on it and help pull the IWE vac line onto it. I wiggled the line a little and I could see it slowly move onto the port a bit more. That was about the best I could do at that point. It still had about 3/8” more it needed to go on. I thought about using a stick but I didn’t want to knock it off again. Then I thought I would get a baggie, I put a small rubber hose in it and taped the end shut around the hose. I pushed the baggie down between the firewall and the intake manifold until I saw it behind the IWE port. I started the engine again and then started blowing into the rubber hose inflating the baggie like a balloon. The baggie started pressing against the IWE line and pushed it all the way onto the port within seconds. Success! The whole process took about 30 minutes.

Glad you got it fixed. I've had the intake off a couple 5.4s and I can fix my hand back in there and get with out much problem. Its the one going to the brake booster that is a pain.

Hey guys
Realize this post is quite old but I've hit the same situation with the IWE vacuum line coming off the back of the intake manifold. I've got a camera as well and went looking for the inlet port that pkelly825 was referring to but I can't locate it.
Is there a specific place I should be pointing the camera to find it? It's a tight fit back there and I don't know where to start or even what I'm looking for.
Hope you can help! Maybe a real photo of the rear of the manifold with an arrow pointing to the inlet would be perfect! Or a diagram?

Morning seems like every 2 years this gets a post....
I was doing phasers and timing chains on my sons 05 5.4 larriat, and the vac line form the brake servo came un done. Is that the one that goes to the back of the intake manifold ( cant seem to fine where it connects, some where directly behind the engine center line, on the fire wall
Any gudiense would be appreciated.

You're not kidding. I couldn't get the clmp back on to save my life. Eventually just shoved the hose connector on as hard as I could, and called it good enough. That hose transfers to a hard line if I recall, so it really can't flex, so I don't think it can fall off. And it fits on the male end pretty stiff, so I don't think it'll lead to a vacuum leak.

From the description in the pdf instructions, the hose fits on a fitting that is part of the manifold. Not sure what you are asking is an easier route, I would give the instructions a good try or two before removing the manifold to get the hose back on, it may save you some extra time and effort. Good luck.
