Default How $ 4 a tranny filter?

I went to ford to get a new transmission filter for my 04 4.6L auto. It was $40.00!! I went to ford because I heard the cheaper ones tend to fall off into the pan. Is this a rip off!

You can get the FT 105 Motorcraft filters from Amazon for only $17.84, or $22 from O'Reilly's.

They are the exact ones? When I went on Amazon, I looked where they came from I found some were from oversee's. So I was a little weary.

If it's Motorcraft, it's OEM...When I did mine, I went with the Motorcraft filter that I got on RockAuto on sale for like 15 bucks. Make sure you get the correct filter for your transmission.

i just ordered the ft-105 on ebay the other day, the for less than $20. the factory filter doesnt even say motorcraft on it, so dont get alarmed when the one you ordered doesnt say motorcraft on the filter itself

I ordered mine from Amazon. It was packaged in a plastic bag. I hear they're no longer boxed.
(Motorcraft bag in an Amazon box.)

Mine was bagged as well, didn't bother me. Advertised as purchased in bulk, no box included

A $40.00 filter every time you do a transmission pan drop, verses using a cheap one and risking a $2K to $3k automatic transmission rebuild/replacement build down the road.

What's the better choice?

Thats why I decided to go to the "stealer" for it. Some things are worth peace of mind also.
