Default Horn beeps when I go over hard speed bumps...

I’ve been researching it but I haven’t found anything with f150s having this problem. Has anyone had this happen or have an idea what’s wrong? I’m not sure if it’s shortening out or what. It just will beep when I hit a hard bump and that’s it.

My guess is the connection behind the airbag is broken, or there is a short in the clockspring. Just guesses based on symptoms though.

Or the horn relay is not holding itself open properly

That too ^^^ and much easier to check. Start there as it could be a simple cheap fix.

LMAO I had an issue like this when I bought my current F150. Damn horn would suddenly start going off and I had to bang the steering wheel to get it to stop. Worst part is I usually have the tunes cranked up and didnt notice I was driving around with the horn going off until the song ended. Yikes!

I had planned to open the wheel and see what was up but it stopped happening.

Thanks for all the input. Its weird. I just rotated my tires and now I don't hear it.. maybe it is just a weird coincidence. lol How do i check the horn relay? What do I have to pull off if I wanted to check it.

I'm kinda surprised nobody's sounded off with "Slow down over the speedbumps, that's what they're for!!"

go to fords website and run your vin# on recall list. i did and found a recall on 2006 f150 xl air bag wires near horn assembly may short causing air bag to deploy when in no accident.
