Ok, thanks. The truck is also loud in low gear, other than that it shifts and runs fine. I have read other year model f150s has probs with air control valve. When I try to look up the part for my truck it will not pull up. Not sure if my truck has one(4.6 V8). The guy I got truck from said he put heavy duty fan clutch on. Wonder if that's the prob. Any help welcome!

does it sound like a diesel on high idle? Like can you hear the high idle sound when you put it in drive and start driving it?

... because you don't have one. Your truck is drive by wire, so the computer controls the throttle plate directly.

How many RPM is it turning at cold start and at what ambient temp? How long does it idle till it kicks down?
