HID lights causing interference? Ideas?

Just installed Phillips 6000K HID lights in my 07 FX4.....now im getting a faint hum coming from my sub amp under the back seat. Any ideas how to shield the Ballasts or stop the hum?

try to reground your amp. if that doesnt work try a ground loop isolator

NashBulldawg 02-09-2010 04:36 PM

Ill try the re-ground first.. Sorry for my ignorance but what is and where can i get a ground loop isolator?

where are the ballasts?

NashBulldawg 02-10-2010 09:51 AM

Ballasts are mounted on the steel crossbeam behind the front lights. I'm going to pick up an isolator at lunch to see if it fixes the problem. If not im going back and getting a new ballast. The humm is coming from just my amp/sub under the back seat none of the other speakers have any problems.

The cheaper ballasts emit a frequency that can cause problems with radio reception, etc. You can either:

1) Build a lead box around the ballasts to keep the interference from emmitting
2) Get this: HID Filter
3)Get digital HID ballasts from retro-solutions.

Hey I purchased a raptor HID kit 35w HI and LO beam from DDM tuning.. And i purchased the HID 35w fog light kit from DDM tuning. As soon as i installed them my hi/lo beams work great as long as my fog lights are not on. But as soon as I turn my fog lights on with my headlights my headlights start to act crazy. For example when my fog light switch is on inside the truck and i switch my lights to high beam the passenger headlight stays on hi beam and the driver side will switch back and forth from lo to hi when i hit the switch. And sometimes both of my headlights will stay on hi beam when the switch is on low beam. As soon as i turn my fog light switch off inside the truck my headlights work fine on lo and hi beam. There is only one relay and fuse for the headlights and fog lights. Do i need to have a second relay for just my fog lights? Or do i have a short somewhere? If anyone has any suggestions let me know please
