Default HID Headlights

I have an 08 Ford f150. I have never really noticed how poor my headlights were until my wife said something about it. Then I drove her car and was blown away. My headlights are terrible! I added a 22" light bar that I use on back roads and what not but I am considering installing HID's. I have googled and read up on them some but I have always gotten good information here. Can anyone tell me what they have and what kind of luck they are having with them?

Thanks in advance.

I'm running LumensHID... Pretty happy with them but I had to add a relay (simple as solenoid wire is near battery) to cut them out during cranking. I had two main issues: 1. cranking the lights would flicker like crazy (couldn't be good for them), 2. sometimes one light wouldn't fire.

My only worry with them though is they're BRIGHT! They work awesome on the highway and such but I'm very very very sure other drivers do not like me for them. I think some other guys on here will say to do the retrofit kit if you can. I might even through my regular halogens back in for just everyday around town driving.

Unless you are planning on spending the coin on a retrofit of your headlights to allow you to have quality projectors, do NOT get HIDs in your stock halogen housing. It is terrible for other drivers and it might appear bright to you but you are actually losing a lot of usable light due to scatter. If you want to keep your stock halogen housings, here is a thread for you to read over.

Thanks for your inputs. I don't know anything about the retro fits so I will look into that.

Bilinvic does some absolutley amazing work. When I have worn out the LEd's or there is a way to get an LED ina projector I will be having him build me a set.

I was on the fence about retrofits as well because of cost. But they are awesome and you won't regret the cost after you have them! be patient and check the classifieds often and you'll find a set for cheap. That's how I got mine:

i got mine from Retrofit Masters. Sammy from this forum made mine and gave me a 5 year warranty. So far they have performed flawlessly. Be careful and ask about the quality of the parts when you decide to purchase.

Skip the aftermarket HIDs...they are a bit unreliable and usually have a poor or non-existent Hi/Lo Beam function...fun to explain at yearly inspection. Get some PIAA Xtreme Whites....4000K and legal (about $60.00 thru AutoAnything...and I go thru MrRebates.com first for another 4% rebate down the road).

Then if you want to add some extra lighting for more...great. I am adding some hyperspot Rigid D2's today.

Those looks awesome to me. What did you have to give for them if you don't mind me asking?

Would it be possible for you to post some pictures?
