Default HID Flicker

The other week I installed a 8000k 35w HID kit. For that install I just used a plug and play setup. They worked and looked great but they flickered so today I installed a relay harness. Hooked up to battery and each ballast and then one to the stock plug to be able to use the switch to turn them on this is all normal. The problem is that they still flicker... Any help is appreciated thanks!

try switching the ballast from one side to the other so you can narrow it down to either a bad ballast or bulb, if the same side flickers..its probably the bulb, if the other side flickers then its probably the ballast. Did you get the lifetime warranty?

Its got a two year warranty I think. And both sides are flickering at this point but I will check again.

Who did you get them from? Flickering even with the relay is usually a sign of crappy ballasts.

I got them off of ebay. If that truly is the problem is crappy ballast. Then Ill have to try return it or figure something out.

Digital or analog ballasts? My very first set years ago were crappy analog ballasts and they flickered or wouldnt work half the time. Return them and get a good quality set. DDMTUNING are good quality and cheapest I've seen so far. I have multiple sets on my cars/trucks/bikes without a single problem.

you need to order an anti flicker kit or solder in a 3000uf - 4700uf capcitor. the reason for the flicker is that all domestic vehicles run on 55watts and the ballast is 35watt thus giving the flicker, or one light shuts off and then you got to turn them back off and on the get the one light on. here is a link on the charger forum/300c forum that give detailed instructions on how to do it. i did this on my wife explorer and have not had a problem in over a year. follow this link if you have the relay kit------

http://www.chargerforums.com/forums/...ad.php?t=72978&

and this is the link if you only have the ballast and bulb and no relay kit, go to post #8 for the picture of the capacitor soldered on with no tape. all instrustions are on there.

hope this helps anyone that is having problems with there hid kits.

How can I tell if they are analog or digital. I wish I had ordered from DDMTuning in the first place! For 10-20 more bucks... Ill try and get the return done on ebay and just buy a better kit and hopefully thats the end of my problems. Thanks guys!
