I used a genesis evo. Yes something where you can watch live engine data

And no problem, we all rely on each others info and past experience!
Sounds like a phaser to me

Been a 'wrench' my whole life but this '06' 5.4 is a whole new critter to me! Same timing issues going on here. Someone said something to me about blowing out some oil ports in the head but am not sure which/where. ????

Hmm,

I haven't heard of that, but it would be the ports where the VCT solenoid goes Into the head I believe that is also connected to hydraulic timing chain tensioners for each side of the motor

Am in dire need of some help/suggestions. Have a POS '06' 5.4--and I do mean Piece Of ****! Have changed All of the timing/timing related components--chains,tensioners,guides,phasers,crank gear, cam positioning sensor, variable cam timing sensor, crank sensor, oil pump, and blew out all of the oil ports I could access (had oil blowing everywhere). Thing fired up and purred like a very contented kitty! As soon as it reached operating temp it started right back with it's bull****--rough idle/dieseling at idle---WTF!!! Do I scrap it and buy a Chevy? (Lord forbid--just joking!) I am at a TOTAL LOSS and am a pretty damn good wrench/troubleshooter! (I had a 390 that I built for Pro Street and ran low 8's--sure wish I could drop it in this F150!)
