Default Average life of a rear axle gasket

When I got my 2005 f150 in 2010

I was told that the left rear axle gasket was leaking, The dealer said he would fix before I got it. 3 years go by and I was told the same thing so I assumed the dealer don't repair it (lesson learned) so I took it to a shop and they repaired it $$, now three years later I am being told the same thing. what is the Average life of a rear left axle gasket.

Wouldn't think a rear axle gasket would be time sensitive but more along the line of miles driven and the road conditions. What are the miles driven within those 3 year periods. Second, it is only (always) the Left and not the right so I am thinking there could be something "slightly out of round" with the right axle. Perhaps a pothole hit by the original owner.....I guessing...

The more history of the truck you input the better the forum can help.

Default must be a seal my 05 still good st 191k

I did repair my pinion seal 2 years ago.. I think you may have got a poor repair job . Perhaps the surfaces were not cleaned or polished correctly, maybe salt damage . I really haven't had to deal with mine .Perhaps some wise rear end guy will chime in . Most posts are about servicing pinion seal and sealing main cover to change rear oil . Definitely something wrong .

Axle may have a groove worn in it from seal lip... new seal will be still prone to leak. Might try an axle saver bearing... Moves the seal position on the axle.

Hurt bearing or hurt axle, most likely.
Bad installation also possible, and cheaper to remedy.
