I put in an alpine PDX-5 amp to run my Infinity replacement speakers and my single 12" sub. Alpine makes a great quality amplifier that fits in very tight spaces (behind the supercab back seat). They are a little pricier than Kenwood amps though.

Go to rodneys custom speaker box website. It's an eBay store. I got 2 kicker comp 10s already in a box very similar to that and I think I paid somewhere around 250.

A very smart man once told me that he has wasted a 1 million dollars buying sh*t. And if it was worth buying save your money and do it right the first time. I promise you will regret cutting corners on your system and will eventually spend the additional money to do it right. If so its cheaper to use quality components the first time. But to answer you question just about any amp will make it loud.
1000x2 @ 8ohms? lol I dont think there is one car audio brand on the market thats gives ratings at 8 ohms.lol Just get an amp that will match the rms ratings of your subs. Theoretically an 1000w amp will only be about 3dbs louder than a 500w amp. And a 2000w amp will only be 3dbs louder than the 1000w amp given all other variables are the same. Also the sound quality difference at 8ohms vs 2ohms (bass wise) wont be audible to the human ear. Youll only see the difference hooked up to an RTA. Your box will probably be your most important factor in how loud your system is. Remember to look at the rms ratings and not the max wattt ratings. My suggestions of Subs would be TC-Sounds, Fi Audio, DC audio, and Soundsplinter. These will surpass the performance of any kicker, jl, or alpine subs and be cheaper. As for amps, i like Arc Audio and Alpine.

Alpine type R's would be a much better choice rather than kicker comps. As far as the amp, running a higher quality amp will draw less power from your electrical and put out more clean undistorted power than a cheap amp. If you get the type r subs id suggest a 1500wrms monoblock amp stable for 1ohm and run the subs at 2 ohms. Or if you get 4ohm subs run them at 1ohm. Try looking at hifonics amps, they arnt expensive and are relatively reliable.

As for me i have 2 12" rockford fosgate power HX2's in an aero ported box tuned to 32hz running 2ohms on a rockford fosgate T20001bd amp, 1/0AWG wire, big 3 upgrade, kenetic 850 secondary battery and a DC 270 alt coming soon.

I definitely agree that the box is extremely important. In my first truck I had a kicker cvr 10 that I probly built 5 boxes for. By the time I sold the truck, I had researched so much that my single 10 was louder than my buddies dual kicker 10s just from box design alone. Also, a kicker will sound just fine in a good box. As for the impedance you run, just be sure to read the directions of both the speaker and amp to match the impedances to what's best for the speaker/amp. Also, don't skimp on the wire you use, get good low gauge monster cable or similar, the key with it is low impedance so that the impedance still matches with the wire added into the equation.
